bacon strips, sliced thick |

medium onion, sliced |

cloves garlic, crushed |

white acre peas |
| 2 cups |
butter peas |

okra, cut |

salt and pepper to taste |

| Preparation |
Cover the bottom of a large saucepan with bacon strips. Top bacon with onion and garlic and
cook on medium heat long enough to extract grease from the bacon, but do not brown. Add 6
cups of water and bring to a boil. Add white acre and butter peas, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to
a low simmer and cook for 30 minutes. Add okra and continue to cook on simmer for 2 hours or
until peas are tender. Add more water if needed. Serve with vinegar pepper sauce at the table.
