Florida Breakfast Partnership Recognized By Governor And Cabinet

Florida’s Governor and Cabinet today adopted a resolution recognizing the creation of the Florida Breakfast Partnership, an organization dedicated to educating consumers about the importance of eating a healthy breakfast every day. The partnership is an alliance of the Florida Department of Citrus, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Dairy Council of Florida, Florida Poultry Federation and the Florida Pork Improvement Group.

Research suggests that eating breakfast on a regular basis provides nutritional benefits and may help with weight control and cognitive performance. The Florida Breakfast Partnership will conduct marketing outreach efforts to consumers, educators and health professionals to increase awareness of nutritious Florida products that can be a part of a healthy breakfast.

The newly launched web site www.FloridaBreakfast.com provides educational resources for parents and teachers, health and nutrition research updates, recipes, educational games for children and links to partners’ web sites.

For its inaugural event, the Florida Breakfast Partnership will host the “Fresh from Florida” Breakfast at the Florida State Fair on Friday, February 6, at 7:30 a.m.
