Florida Earth Project Series: Agriculture Module
On Thursday and Friday, December 10 and 11, 2009, Florida Earth Foundation will offer the public its Agriculture Module, one of five modules in the Florida Earth Project Series. On Thursday the course will be held at the University of Florida's Everglades Research and Education Center in Belle Glade and will study the role of agriculture and its relationship to the natural system from leading scientists, university, agency and industry personnel working with South Florida's landscape. On Friday the course travels to agricultural operations in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) with a visit to a sugar cane operation, vegetable farms, and a rice mill. Participants will study the Everglades Agricultural Area's diversity of crops as well as agriculture in other parts of Florida. A $200 registration fee covers textbook, materials, Friday's transportation and lunch. Information and registration for the course is located on Florida Earth's website, http://floridaearth.org.
